Downtown Savannah
We spent most of the day in historical downtown Savannah. We walked the lengeth of River Street which has a lot of little shops that are in the lower floors of the old warehouses of Civil War era. The warehouses are on the Savannah River where the ships came in from England and down from New York.
Years ago I read the historical novel, "Savannah" by Eugenia Price, which centered around the area of River Street and the historical section of the city. We took a trolley tour, which was very interesting. I was able to recall a number of places that were mentioned in E. Price's book.
*A huge freighter came up the river from China
*The Travelers from NY
*Larry on River Street

*A man making roses from reeds
*Some of the many flowers that are in bloom
*I was facinated with the old stone roads on River Street

TROLLY TOUR
I didn't take too many pictures on the tour. I was gawking at all the beautiful houses, churches, flowers, parks. The brochures have lots of pictures of the tour.
*This tree is over 300 years old
* Inside the trolly we rode in
*We ate lunch at "5 Guys" The original "5 Guys" was in Niskayuna, NY. 5 college age brothers started the business and now they have a number of them all down the east coast.
Larry wanted to see the round house and trains

Trains, trolleys, E.Price, free WiFi, stone streets.... you guys are in your glory!!
It's REALLY cold here and miserable. The snow is still in huge piles and where the ground shows its all matted and brown; not a stem or leaf to be seen. Hope you're enjoying the weather down there!!!
(truth be told, we did get a couple gallons of syrup:)
Enjoy!
