HIKER'S

HIKING THE NORTHVILLE - LAKE PLACID TRAIL
Lulu (from Mich.) and John (from Endwell, NY) arrived at our house Wednesday late afternoon. Lulu took the "Chicken Coop" and John our camper. We had a nice visit, then next morning we all went out to the Kitchenette for breakfast. After bfast we drove them to the trail head in Benson. Larry hiked this trail with his hiking buddies several years ago, which included John.

BOWSER'S 50TH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY

Joyce Springer became my friend
when her parents moved to Northville when we were both in second grade. We were friends through high school, we went to the same college and we were in each others weddings. How's that for a long friendship? While we were raising our family in Endwell, NY, Joyce and her husband Paul were living and raising their family in California, so we didn't see much of each other for quite a few years. In 1994 they moved to Pa. and we moved back to our home town so that put us about 5 hrs from each other so we have been able to pick up where we left off, enjoying many times at each others homes. About 6 months ago Joyce asked me if her and Paul could celebrate their 50th anniversary here at our house. I suggested a pavilion in town would be the safest place (weather wise), so along with Joyce we made plans for the celebration, which took place August 23.

CAMPING WITH THE GRANDKIDS

Jessie and Mackenzie were here for a week in August. I think the highlight of their week was when we took them camping at the Northampton Beach Campsite. I think the pictures will speak for themselves.

KENZIE LEARNING TO RIDE A 2 WHEELER

One of Kenzie's goals this week was to learn to ride a two wheeler. Well, here she is the first day here trying and succeeding with some help from Grandpa. It didn't take her long and she was determined which is 75% of the battle.

The bike was her Uncle Scott's first bike and the one Kenzie's mother also learned on.
(It has a crossbar to make it a boys's bike)

The look of determination!

REVOLUTIONARY WAR SOLDIER

William Houseman 1747 - 1813

Several weeks ago I got an email from a family that is related to a Revolutionary War soldier who is buried in the Old King's Cemetery. They told me that his grave didn't have a veteran's marker or flag and wondered how they could get one for it. I contacted the American Legion who puts the flags on the graves. They apparently missed Wm Houseman's or didn't know that he'd been in the Rev. War. I was able to obtain a marker and flag.

Here's my grandaughter Kenzie placing the flag at the gravesite.
