FT MYERS

Swan Lake Village RV Park
March 25 - 28

Very nice park...I give it 5 stars
and it's close by our friends, Skip and Charlene

We left Ft.Lauderdale Wednesday a.m. taking Alligator Ally
that runs from the east to the west coast.
I was hoping we'd see an alligator along the way.
"There's one, there's another one, oh my goodness
there is one every 100 ft or so. After seeing about 50
of them we didn't bother to look any more.

Charlene and Skip live next to this RV park, an easy bike ride
over there. Our first night here, they invited us to supper.
I was under the weather so Larry went over and had a good
visit with them. Charlene sent me a plate of food.

Charlene, still that sweet personality.
Thursday the 26th I took it easy, went to the pool and
by evening was feeling somewhat better so we went
over to Kemp's for supper which included some neighbors
that are leaving soon for their summer homes.
Kemp's dining room.
There were 4 couples there, by the time I got
around to take a picture most everyone had
gotten up from the table. It was a fun time, their friends
were very nice and the conversation(s) were interesting.
The swimming pool here
That's me
Friday was more relaxing, swimming in the pool and then
the Kemp's came over and took us for a ride out
toward the beaches and to a neat place where they
sell oranges, juice, ice cream, gifts, and other goodies
Larry Charlene Skip
Larry and Skip
Free samples: Orange, Orange/strawberry, Orange Cranberry,
Grapefruit, and a couple others
We bought a quart of the orange/strawberry, plus a couple of jars
of marmalade, honey mustard and something for Shari who
will have to wait to find out what it is.
Our visit with Charlene and Skip was great. So many memories
shared, sharing about our kids, gkids, and "their" great gkids.
After we left the citrus store Charlene drove us over to
Shell Point Village where Janet and Harry Myles live.
This is owned by C. & M.A.
Harry
Janet
Cramer's, Myles, and Kemp's
Again, lots of memories of Riverview/Endicott,
kids, gkids, fun times. Uncle Josh entertained them. They
laughed so hard Charlene said her face hurt and Janet
had to get up and get a drink of water.
It was so good to see the Kemp's and Myles's,
another high light of our trip.

Saturday morning and we are all packed up and ready
to go north to Zephyrhills well almost anyway,
bikes have to be loaded in the truck
and the awning has to be rolled up.

MY FRIEND MARIA (E) Boca Raton

Visiting my friend Maria(e) was one of the highlights of our trip !!!!
Yesterday afternoon (Monday Mar.23) we drove up to Boca Raton,
which is about 20 miles north of Ft. Lauderdale.
I met Maria, her name is really Marie but somehow when she introduced herself
to me the first time I thought she said Maria and she never corrected me, so she's
always been Maria to me.
Maria and I in front of the pond that is across the road from her house
Maria had arrived in Endicott, NY from Czechoslovakia with her husband Peter
and daughter Alena in mid '60's. They didn't speak English, but they all learned it very fast.
Maria was a professional basketball player in her country so when she heard that IBM
had a team, she checked into it and fortunately she was put on my team.  We "clicked" on the
basketball court and also became good friends.  So many memories that I just
can't get into them here.
Looking at her swimming pool from her dining room
Maria swims everyday, plays tennis 2 or 3 times a week
and has a workout room with 5 or 6 exercise machines.
In front of her house
Maria's grandfather was a famous painter in Czechoslovakia.  He painted over 1000
painting.  Today they are very valuable.  Maria has this one in her living room
as well as many others.  You can go on the web and find his paintings.
Maria's father was a doctor and a concert pianist.  He also wrote a book
about the many paintings.  I met her father and mother when they
visited Maria in Endicott.
The book her father wrote contains pictures of the paintings and their background.
Maria is going to get me a copy of it when she goes to back to Czechoslovakia.
Whenever we went to Maria and Peter's house they always served us
coffee (so strong you could almost chew it) and many goodies.  Yesterday
she did the same and we ate all afternoon.  Shrimp, loxs, cream cheese and bagels,
sandwich meat, cheese, strawberries, pickles, choc candy, crackers, and more.
Unfortunately Peter died in a tragic automobile accident in 2002.
We left Maria's about 6 p.m. and with an address , which was
fairly near Maria's, where we located another friend from Endicott/Endwell.  We
weren't sure if the address from the internet was this person or not
but went to her door anyway.....and sure enough it was Dot Cart.
We had a nice visit.  We both got caught up on family and friends from Valleyview.
Arrived back at Kerwick's about 9 p.m.  I'm glad Larry's a good driver.
Rt 95 sure is a busy and fast highway.

Miscellaneous Stuff (Day 19)

Here are some odds and ends pictures
Watching Syracuse win over Arizona on Sunday afternoon (at Kerwicks')
Ignore the guy in the picture.  It's this odd tree I took a picture of.  That is it's natural coloring.
Sharon doesn't know the kind of tree it is, will have to do some research.
We went to lunch here on Monday
Hotdog Heaven's Angel (s)

Larry took Molly for a walk this morning and came home with these two
coconuts he found beside the road. John cracked one open and we ate some of it.

Lunch at "Rosie's" today

This is one of the lizards that run around the yard here.  He is on a piece of coral
Will blog about our visit with Maria next!!!

Ft Lauderdale "The Kerwick's"

Sharon and John Kerwick

We met them in Northville about 8 years ago.  They own an "Arts and Crafts" summer home
on the Mountain Road, about 1 mile from us.  John spends the whole summer there, Sharon
isn't retired yet so she goes up several times during the summer.   They've been very gracious to us
for allowing us to park are camper in their back yard this week.  We are having a great time with them.
They have a very nice house and their yard is beautfully landscaped  Take a look.

They have coral rocks interspersed in the landscaping

We are camping at the end of their driveway.
