FT LAUDERDALE (Wilton Manor)

FRIDAY 3/20 (DAY 15)
We left the campsite in Dundee around 10 a.m. Took route 27 at John K's suggestion.
This route is called "Sugar Lane" because of all the sugar cane that is grown there. Domino
Sugar owns most of the land . Over half of the country's supply of cane sugar is produced today in Florida.
In 1512, Ponce de Leon brought the first sugarcane to Florida when he landed at St. Augustine.

There were many orange groves along the way.
You could even smell them with the windows up.

We arrived about 4:30 p.m. at Sharon and John Kerwick's
After "catching up", a tour of their home (inside and out) and a snack
we went out to dinner at a French restaurant. Back home for coffee and making plans for the next day.
Larry and I watched NCAA basketball in our camper until 12:30 a.m.

SATURDAY 3/21 (DAY16)
Sharon and I went to some garage sales and an especially good one at a church nearby.
When Sharon comes to Northville, we usually always go to a garage sale or two, so we had
to keep up the tradition and go here in Florida. We went to several, but the best one was at the church.
We decided to get the guys and go to the pancake bfast that the church was sponsoring.
Then we all went to a couple more G.S.'s and a thrift shop.

Sharon went to her hair dressers, Larry and John went to a car museum and I took a nap, watched an NCAA game, and read some. It rained so hard, I looked out the window and the cat carriers were floating down the driveway.

Larry said that it was an excellent museum

Tomorrow, more pictures and events in Ft Lauderdale
