First Camping Trip for 2008

Moffett's Beach State Campsite in Speculator NY.

This is one of favorite places to camp and it's only about 25 miles north of us. With the gas prices as they are, we just might not go too far from home when we camp this year. Moffett's Beach is on Lake Sacandaga (not to be confused with the Great Sacandaga Lake), which you can see in the background of the picture below. We love to kayak around the lake, but this time we didn't take our kayak's because the water was still very cold. We did take our bikes though and did some biking in the campsite

Traditionally Larry has to find a big log and as it burns, little by little he pushes it into the fire until it's all consumed. (Previously cut or fallen down and legal to use) We burned this for the 2 days we were there and when we left, there was only about 10" of it left.
