Notice I centered this picture and the type. I you save your photos as size 1024 x 680 +/- they'll enlarge better than your 1600 x 1067 that you're doing now.
Also you can edit in HTML mode to move pictures around easier. But you probably need a different template that will automatically expand to allow side by side pics.
